Popularising science: Something to cheer

Rejuvenation of science reporting anyone?!! The Rs 35,000 crore Large Hadron Particle collider experiment had an unintended side effect. Setting aside the media’s nationalistic playing up of Indian scientists’ participation, it sure has put science on the national media agenda after a long time. The Times of India today launched a series titled “Destination Moon”, an effective way of popularising the ongoing science projects in the country to the readers. Subaltern Media hopes Indian media will steer clear of gaffes made by the neighbouring Chinese news agency Xinhua in its “planned” coverage of the country’s first space walk!!! (read here)
